Candle Chandelier Lighting - Two Considerations
61
Homeowners have many options these days when shopping for home lighting. For some homeowners, candle chandelier lighting is the type of lighting they wish
to use and enjoy in their living space. Candle chandeliers are available in many designs. Unlike many years ago, when only candle chandeliers that used real candlesticks were available,
with the advent of electricity, many more choices in design are available. Thus, in addition to how the chandelier looks, the material from which it is made, and the size, etc., consumers may also wish to consider the energy efficiency and safety of the candle
chandelier lighting fixture. Two programs can help homeowners identify lighting that has been tested for safety and energy efficiency when they are shopping for electric candle chandeliers. In this brief article, two aspects of candle chandeliers consumer may wish to consider when shopping for electric candle chandeliers are noted.
Underwriters Laboratories is an organization that tests consumer products for safety standards. This organization also tests products for the conditions under which the product may be used safely. For example, in the case of an electric candle chandelier, is it safe to use indoors or outdoors? Depending on where the chandelier will be hung, different safety standards need to be met. Underwriters Laboratories designates if the candle chandelier is safe to be used indoors or outdoors. Usually, there is a UL on the product label, indicating that Underwriters Laboratories has tested the product.
ENERGY STAR is a program that tests consumer products, including lighting, for energy efficiency. Home lighting that has met ENERGY STAR's energy efficiency standards have the ENERGY STAR label on it, to designate that the lighting is energy efficient and has met ENERGY STAR's high standards.
Additionally, consumers may wish to install a dimmer switch that is compatible with the candle chandelier they wish to install and enjoy in their home. A dimmer switch provides flexibility in the amount of light emitted by the candle chandelier. For example, during the times that more light is needed, the dimmer switch can be adjusted to high. Conversely, when little light is needed, the dimmer switch can be adjusted to low. The amount of light emitted by the electric candle chandelier can also be adjusted to degrees of brightness of the lighting to degrees that are in between dim and bright. Dimmer switches can help consumers conserve energy, when less light is needed to be used. Not only will conserving energy benefit the natural environment, it will also help reduce household electricity costs, which will reduce electricity bills.
Therefore, in addition to considering what the electric candle chandelier looks like, consumers may also wish to consider the energy efficiency and safety of the lighting. The programs indicated above can help consumers choose safe and energy efficient electric candle chandeliers to enjoy in their homes.
